How to Get Started Dream Surfing

See for yourself what your dreams can tell you. Here’s a quick guide to dream surfing……

  1. Record your dreams.

I recommend using a voice recording app on your phone and having it on your bedside table. Describe your dream into the phone the moment you are conscious. Then type it up (or use a voice to text app). If you have trouble remembering your dreams, see my blog post here “How to Remember Your Dreams.”

2. Keep a journal of all your dreams.

Buy a notebook. I use these spiral bound ones here. You can either handwrite your dreams—or, if you’re like me, and your handwriting is atrocious, you can type them up. If you don’t like writing, try an app that will transcribe your voice recording to text for you. Easy peasy! I type mine up, print them out, and paste the pages into a spiral notebook. Since this adds bulk, the spiral format is handy for ripping out blank pages to make room for my print-outs.

3. Start with a Dream Dictionary.

You can make a start at interpreting your dreams on your own by using a dream dictionary to look up the symbols. I recommend Michael Sheridan’s How to Interpret Your Dreams. He was my teacher in dream interpretation and he’s amazing. You can get his dream dictionary for free here. However, a dream dictionary can only get you so far. Often you won’t find all the things in your dream in the dictionary. And skilled interpretation takes training and practice going through hundreds of dreams.

4. Take a deep dive with a trained dream interpreter.

If you’re serious about finding the messages in your dreams, I recommend working with a dream interpreter. You want an interpreter who uses channeling as part of their method. A good dream interpreter who channels will be able to get much more out of a dream than any dream dictionary.

If you just want to see what it’s like to work with a dream interpreter, you can book a one-time session to get the meaning of just a few dreams. My one-time dream sessions are listed on this page.

5. Dream surfing with a coach

If you want to take it to the next level and fully dream surf, you can meet with a trained dream interpreter weekly to go over all your dreams for at least a month. Within that month, you will get messages in your dreams about the most pressing issues in your life, the issues your higher self wants you to work on right now. If you see the value in this method, and the potential it has to transform your life, you can meet with a dream interpreter weekly or monthly on retainer. Here’s a page about my dream surfing coaching service.

6. Make a plan to address the issues in your dreams.

You may want to do a therapy (like Cutting the Ties that Bind or other therapy) to address the blocks your dreams are showing you. Or your dreams may encourage you to make a career change or adjust your diet. If you are committed to becoming the highest version of yourself possible, make a plan to follow your dreams’ advice.

Once you have resolved an issue, your dreams will move on to the next most pressing one(s). Your guides never run out of great ideas to send your way!

7. Study to be a dream interpreter

Last, but not least, if you find you have a true passion for dreams, like I did, you can study dream interpretation yourself. It’s a big commitment of time and money, so I recommend working with a dream interpreter first to see the value it adds to your life. If you do decide to become an interpreter, even if only to interpret your dreams and the dreams of friends and family, I highly recommend Michael Sheridan’s Aisling School. That’s where I studied.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY EXPLORING YOUR DREAMS! It will enrich your life in unforeseen ways.
