The Barista Course -OR- How Dreams Give Guidance on Your Career

Have you ever had a decision to make — about which school to go to, or whether you should quit your job — and wished God, or our spirit guides, would give you a hint about which option would work out the best for you?

Here’s the secret: THEY DO.

Your spirit guides are talking to you all the time about career choices and other life decisions — in your dreams.

This video has an example of just such a dream, and how it led me to drop plans to take a specific training course. Maybe it will help you see this kind of guidance in your own dreams. Here’s the transcript:

Have you ever wished a higher power would step up and give you advice when you’re considering a new job or a career change? Maybe tell you flat out whether to choose School A or School B, go for that risky job offer, or spend money on that expensive training seminar? It’d be nice to get that kind of guidance, right? It could save you a lot of time, money, and heartache.

You might be surprised to learn that you do get exactly such advice from your higher self or spirit guides—in your dreams. The trouble is, we often don’t know how to translate dream symbols into a concrete, real life message that we can understand .

Today’s video is about a dream that contained a message from spirit about whether or not the dreamer should take a particular educational course. This dream happens to be one of mine. Let’s take a look at the dream, and then I’ll break down how the message was extracted from it using dream interpretation.

The dream’s title is “The Barista course.” Here’s the dream:

I had a friend, and I was encouraging her to do something more with her life. Maybe find a program she was interested in. She called me up and she was very excited. She said she’d enrolled in a cooking course.

Next, I was at her house. She showed me a booklet for the course. It was a big, shiny booklet with lots of pictures and descriptions. The class listings were for different kinds of coffee drinks. I said, “Oh. This is a barista program.” She said no, it was more than that. But I thought to myself it sure looks like a barista program to me.

I continued to look through the course book and later on it had other things like scrambled eggs and ice cream sundaes. I said, “Oh, no. You’re right. There’s other stuff in here.” But it was all very basic and rudimentary.

I felt bad that I had discouraged my friend about the course. She seemed bummed. I tried to be more positive. I said, “No, this is great. You could do all kinds of things with this.” But I was secretly thinking that even if she got a job from this course, it would be a really low level job.

As usual, I woke up and thought, “Okay, that was random. I have no idea what it means.” After all, I’d never had the least notion of becoming a barista. But when I sat down to interpret the dream, and I channeled on it, the meaning revealed itself. In fact, this dream has a very pointed message, and it has nothing to do with coffee drinks.

First, what’s the barista course really about?

Remember at the start of the dream, my friend was looking to find a new program to “do something more with her life.”

In other words, she was in a period of transition. So was I when I had this dream. After having had a career in high-tech for a whole lotta years, I had a spiritual awakening. I took a part time job as a Home Care Aid out a desire to be of service to others, and to build my nurturing side. I’d done that for a year. At the time of this dream, I was about to take the caregiving career one step further and enroll in a course to become a CNA or Certified Nursing Assistant.

Here's the way the universe works: I’d googled CNA programs and found one not far from me. I would have signed up immediately, but the ENROLL button on the school website didn’t work. And when I tried calling and emailing the school, I got no response. This went on for two weeks—me trying to enroll and not having success. I should have taken the hint, but no. I kept trying. Then I had this dream.

You see, this dream isn’t about a barista program at all. It’s about the CNA course. And it tells me exactly how my higher self—or spirit guides --feel about it.

The way I responded to the barista course in the dream is exactly how they feel about the CNA course! In the dream, I felt the program was too rudimentary and wasn’t going to get my friend very far. And that’s exactly how my guides felt!

In this dream, they’re clearly telling me that this is not the optimal program for me. How can I know that for sure? Let’s look at the other signs and symbols in the dream.

What food items do I see in the course book? I see fancy coffee drinks, scrambled eggs, and ice cream. Coffee, eggs, and diary are all things I don’t eat, foods that my guides have told me expressly not to eat in previous dreams and in channeling. So how could they make it any clearer that this course is not a good fit for me when all the foods in the course book are foods I don’t eat?

As the result of interpreting this dream, I decided not to enroll in the CNA program. My dreams eventually led me to the channeling and dream interpretation work I’m doing now. It’s not that doing the CNA course would have been a terrible mistake. It might have been the right step for someone else. The beauty of working with your guides through your dreams is that they can help you find the best and highest path for you. And, at any age, don’t we all want that? To make the most optimal use of our limited days on the planet?

If you’re in a period of transition, or considering a fork in the road, I guarantee your dreams are speaking to you about it.
